Cities under construction

Can design help us reduce construction site issues, boost the economy and appeal at the same time ? That was the question asked by 300 professionals attending the Quel chantier! – Le design au secours des grands chantiers urbains conference, where 22 speakers from Asia, the U.S., Europe and elsewhere in Canada discussed how innovations in design can rescue the city from its multiple construction sites. The conference was held last October, during the 27th Entretiens Jacques-Cartier.

The event was organized by Bureau du design de Montréal in collaboration with the Cité du design in Saint-Étienne, France.  It marked a new milestone in the development of innovative ways of approaching construction projects in Montréal. At the conference and its networking events, designers and municipal leaders explored innovative solutions for problems faced by cities all over the world  in relation to urban construction sites.
